A septic system is one of the most expensive components of your home or facility, but most of the septic system is located below ground, out of sight and out of mind. Because of this septic systems are often neglected.
Many homeowners and property managers, especially those who moved from urban areas that had sewer service, do not know how a septic system works, and do not know that it needs periodic service to keep it functioning properly.
A neglected septic system can not only cause a backup of wastewater into your home, business or yard but can also dramatically shorten the lifespan of this expensive system. To avoid these problems, have your septic tank pumped regularly.
Contact us to schedule your septic tank pumping and cleaning.
We can help you determine if it's time and we can quote you a price over the phone. The cost is based on your location and the capacity of your tank. Most 3-bedroom homes have a 1,000-gallon tank, 4 bedrooms have 1,250 gallons, and larger homes and businesses can have 1,500 gallons or more.
Opening the septic tank often requires digging, if it does not have a riser on the surface. We can do this for you, for an additional fee.
If you do not know where your tank is located, that's okay. We can usually locate it for free.
We can usually schedule a pumping within 3 business days. Emergency pumpings are available the same day, for an additional fee.
Most problems with the septic systems are caused by not pumping enough. At a minimum, septic tanks need to be pumped every two to five years. However, depending on the type and size of the septic system and your lifestyle, habits, chemical use, etc., you may need pumping more frequently.
The septic tank uses gravity to separate wastewater into three parts:
The septic tank is designed to ensure that the sludge and the scum remain in the tank while the watery mix flows out into the drain field. However, the sludge and scum need to be periodically cleaned from the septic tank to keep things flowing smoothly.
If a septic tank is not pumped frequently enough, the sludge or scum will be forced out into the drain field along with the watery effluent. These solids and greases will begin to clog the underground system of perforated pipes or other absorption or evaporation mechanisms in your system. You will likely not see any signs of problems until significant, and often irreversible, damage has been done to these systems.
If you have a sewer pump and/or control system, it also needs maintenance.
Systems with electrical float switches, pumps, or mechanical components should be inspected more often, generally once a year.
We offer this service, as well as annual service agreements.
